Machete might not be the best against zombies, unless you're trained!

So check out this video... this poor guy gets attacked by 3 men with one of them swinging madly at him with a machete. Now, I have met lots of people who have said that a machete would be their weapon of choice in a zombie attack. You may want to re-think that after seeing and reading this.

Did you watch the video? Pretty vicious, right?

The man with the machete swings at the victim at least 14 times before the end of the attack. You must be thinking the poor guy was left in pieces on the floor after that. WRONG! The only time the attacker makes a straight and effective hit he ends up hitting the man who handed him the machete in the first place. He nearly severs his co-attackers right arm, leaving a blood trail that the cops end up using to track him down.

I'm bringing this to your attention because a machete is not as easy to wield as the walking dead or zombie hollywood makes it out to be. Just think about it. This guy was swinging a machete on a man who was trying to get away and didn't hit him accurately. Do you think you could swing a machete at a zombie with all of it's weight and flesh eating intentions accurately, multiple times? Probably not.

Hey, don't feel bad if this was your go-to weapon. I used to think it would be a great zombie kick-ass weapon, until I saw this real life video. Now I've changed my mind...to what...I haven't decided that yet. The jury in my head is still out on what I would use in the zombie apocalypse to defend myself. I think not getting detected in the first place is a great tactic. Avoid as many confrontations as possible. But, when that fails, I'm thinking of something lightweight, portable, doesn't require reloading, readily available and slices or stabs with ease. When I figure out what that is exactly, I will be sure to let you know.
